Reweaving & Reknitting Services
Invisible Repairs for Your Finest Garments
Imagine this: You’re an hour away from an important business meeting and reach for your best suit—only to discover a hole right on the lapel. Or you're about to attend a wedding and find that moths have damaged your tuxedo. Maybe you've torn your pants on a nail, burned a small hole, or worn down the back pocket with an overstuffed wallet.
Whatever the situation, Knitwear Doctor is here to help with our expert reweaving and reknitting services—specialized techniques that restore damaged garments with virtually invisible results.
What Is Reweaving?
Reweaving is a highly skilled, handcrafted method of repairing holes, tears, and burns in woven fabrics. Instead of patching or sewing over the damage, we reconstruct the original fabric by carefully hand-weaving threads from the same garment into the damaged area.
We use two primary techniques, depending on the type and size of the damage:
-
French Weaving (Invisible Weaving):
Ideal for small holes, tears, or burns. Threads are harvested from hidden areas of the garment and woven thread-by-thread, both horizontally and vertically, to match the original pattern. The result? An invisible repair that blends seamlessly into the surrounding fabric. -
Piece or Block Weaving:
Used for larger or more complex damage. A small piece of fabric is taken from a hidden section of the garment and woven into the damaged area. This method is less discreet than French weaving but still provides a clean, professional repair.
What Is Reknitting?
For knit garments, we offer reknitting, which uses yarn from the garment itself to recreate the knit structure over the damaged area. Our team carefully matches the original knit pattern—stitch by stitch—to ensure a consistent look and feel
.
How We Work
Each repair is done by hand under magnification, using tiny needles and the utmost precision. We don’t "mend" garments—we restore them, as if the damage never happened.
That’s why many top tailors, dry cleaners, and designers trust Knitwear Doctor for their clients’ most treasured pieces.
